Upon moving into my apartment, I was not provided with documentation or proof that the unit was pest-free prior to my tenancy, despite signing an addendum that assumes no present infestation. One month after moving in, my mother began experiencing bed bugs bites in her bedroom,, requiring medical attention. We presented physical evidence (a bed bug in a zip lock bag)to the apartments pest control contractor, who initially claimed they found no evidence. Despite this the apartment management is holding me financially responsible for the infestation without proof that it originated in my unit and not from pre-existing conditions or neighboring units. This is a potential violation of habitability standards as required by Washington state law (RCW 59.18.060)

The infestation is primarily located in my mothers bedroom that is the only area sharing a wall with our neighboring tenants . She has experienced bites that required medical treatment. I can provide photos of her bites and founding's of bed bugs found by us (tenants) and detailed communication with property management and their pest control contractor. The property is Meridian Pointe Apartments , located 407 Valley NE Puyallup, WA
