COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE
The applicant is requesting DRHPB approval for the replacement of existing exterior stairs on the north elevation with new, enclosed stairs. An alternate proposal is to replace the exterior stairs in kind without enclosing the area. In addition to this, the proposal includes new lighting fixtures as well as the removal of the eastern stairwell and infilling existing openings by either enclosing or installing windows. Where existing openings are enclosed, siding will be replaced in kind and painted to match the existing color.

The Board has approved option 1 (attached) for the proposed northern stairwell enclosure materials. The approval of option 1 does not approve the proposed horizontal fiber cement lap siding and horizontal belly band as the material for the east and west facades of the stairwell enclosure. The materials for the east and west façades of the northern stairwell enclosure must distinctly differentiate from the existing building’s horizontal lap siding, belly band, and color. Acceptable design approaches are use of fiber cement (or similar material) flat panel siding or vertical siding.
